It’s important to think about insurance for musical instruments. Whilst many musicians think home contents insurance is sufficient, it might not be. Specialist musical insurance is inexpensive and often costs less than adding your instrument to your home contents insurance and if you make a claim, your home contents no claims discount won’t be affected.
What’s more, home insurance policies often have high excesses and these can deter musicians from making a claim when they need to. Instruments can often exceed the single item limit on home contents policies, and listing an instrument as a specified item can significantly increase the premium.
